Before you go
- Ask about allergens when you order: US food law names nine major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame), and kitchens can tell you which dishes contain them.
- Restaurant inspection results are kept by the city or county health department; many publish them online or post the latest grade at the door.
- For table service a tip of 15β20% is customary; at counter-service places tipping is optional.

My wife and I love trying new places when we are out of town. During our search today we stumbled upon this quaint and cozy restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and seated almost immediately. Our waitress was very attentive and even the owner stopped by our table multiple times to check on us. To say the service was excellent is a understatement; The best i've have in a while. Now as far as the food goes it's a 9.2 best Italian food i've had in years. There is no reason this place shouldn't be packed. Hopefully this review finds the people who need it, this place deserves it. π for overwhelming success for Lydia's.

While passing through Salem, VA after a long two-hour drive, I stopped at Lydiaβs after being drawn in by the beautiful building β and Iβm so glad I did. From the start, the complimentary breadsticks were wonderfully delicious and full of flavor. They were drizzled with olive oil, seasoned perfectly, and paired with a lovely marinara sauce that set the tone for the meal. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, topped generously with both shaved and shredded fresh Parmesan, which added great texture and flavor. For my entrΓ©e, I chose the chicken marsala, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender, the mushrooms were fresh, and the entire dish was smothered in a rich marsala sauce that brought everything together beautifully. Service was excellent as well. My server, Micheal, was kind, attentive, and truly on point throughout the meal. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Lydiaβs. The portion sizes are huge, the flavors are spot on, and itβs well worth the stop. Definitely bring your appetite!

Love ordering Lydia's, have loved everything but the bread sticks. Ordered take out today and was sorely disappointed to find the "Garlic butter" bread sticks dry as a bone with zero garlic π Only thing I have yet to be disappointed in. Everything else has been amazing, pizza, salad, calzone and especially the desserts!

This place is amazing! Found it the first time looking for dinner. Loved it! When I'm in the area, THATS where we go! Went there again for Valentine's Day with my brother and his wife. The 4 of us had a wonderful meal, and lots of catching up. Had a reservation, which is a good idea on holidays.

Came here with two other people for a late lunch on a weekend and had a good meal. It wasn't busy when we got there, but there are plenty of tables even if it was. Prices were reasonable, our waitress was attentive, and the building/bathroom was clean. Everything we got was good, but I think the side salad could have used some extra ingredients. Overall, a decent place to eat and will visit again.
